ロンドンはセントパンクラス駅で、早めに集合メンバー、列車内で合流した方、到着のハーベンデン駅で合流した方合わせ、合計１６名です。
コース説明と自己紹介のあと本日のリーダー、モーリーンを先頭に、しんがりはパートナーのデビッドで歩き出します。１２時前にハートウッド・フォレストの入口に到着。
ここで最初の集合写真。お二人ほど写真に撮られたがらない方がいらっしゃいましたので、カメラ係になっていただきました。

ここから森に入ると、ブルーベルのカーベットに遭遇。いつもは４月下旬に開花するのですが、今年は早いようです。しっかり咲き誇る絨毯の中を歩きました。
森を抜け、見晴らしの良い景色に感動しながら、お昼のパブのある、サンドリッジの村に１時少し前に到着。
パブはイースターの土曜日を楽しむ人たちで賑わっていました。ピクニック組は隣の教会のベンチでランチ。
午後２時半ごろ、再集合してセント・オーバンスに向け出発です。途中菜の花畑もきれいな黄色の絨毯でした。

Childwickbury estateの大邸宅街を通り抜け、有名な映画監督が住んでいたと言うお城のような邸宅を見て、ローマ時代の遺跡が残る公園を抜けるとセント・オーバンスの大聖堂に到着、元はアビー（僧院）だったのですが、ヘンリー八世の時代に大聖堂になったそうです。１１世紀から、現代までのさまざまな建築様式が混ざって、興味深い建物です。
５時近くになっていたので、町中で一旦解散。そのまま駅に直行する組とカフェで疲れた体を休める組に分かれて、本日終了しました。

We have met some members at St Pancras Station to get on board 10.06 train to Harpenden, then met others to join at the station, 16 ramblers were headed to Heartwood Forest where bluebells already were out just on time for us like huge carpets.
We walked through common land and woodlands including the new Heartwood forest planted by the Woodland Trust.
We arrived at Sandridge just before 1pm, we had a lunch in the pub and those who brought their own lunch took break at churchyard next to the pub.
After lunch 2.30pm, we walked through the pretty Childwickbury estate and past St Albans Abbey, finished today’s walk at 5pm, then some members went to cafe for tea, some were headed to the St Albans City Staion right away.
