9月のロンドン歩く会・写真レポート Sunday 18th September River Wey and Surrey Hills walk

First take

翌日19日が女王陛下の国葬でしたが、お天気に恵まれ、歩きを楽しめました。

リーダーのポールのレポートになります。

17 of us met up at 10.30 outside Godalming Station, with 2 more people joining us at lunchtime. We set out along the River Wey through the park in Godalming and out into the countryside. We walked about 2 hours along the river in sunny weather, seeing lots of barges, canoeists and locks. Lunch was taken by everyone at the Weyside pub overlooking the River.

At 2.00 we set out along Shalford Park and Pilgrims Way into Chantry Woods. Our first viewing spot near the woods was High Ball where we could look back to Godalming where we started the walk. We then went on to Saint Marthas Hill church with more terrific views of Surry Hills countryside. From there we walked to Pewley down, a beauty spot just outside Guildford and finally down to Guldford castle where we saw people playing bowls and a statue of Alice Through The Looking Glass. We ended up at the Kings Head pub at approx 4.40 for a final drink. It was a 10 mile walk done at a gentle pace in nice weather.
