１１月のロンドン歩く会・写真レポート Sunday, 6th November, Richmond to Wimbledon Walk

写真レポート遅くなりましたが、こちらに入れておきます。リーダーの David からのレポートです。今回初の？動画も入れておきました。

12 people met at Richmond station and 13 finished in Wimbledon! The 12 probably all hoped the walk would be cancelled because of the weather forecast and heavy rain in the morning. The 13th was the only one who decided to wait and see.

At first it looked like the 13th was wrong. In the dry we walked along the Thames at Richmond, past happy joggers. Into Richmond park, still in the dry, we saw St Paul's from King Henry's mound.

We got to Pembroke lodge early and there was plenty of space to enjoy lunch and decide who was the lucky one who brought good weather.

We left looking for autumn leaves and deer. There is a well known English saying that the first person to see a deer in Richmond park brings good luck. One member was a little too eager to bring good luck and saw a 🦌 but it turned out to be a 🐕.

We eventually found a group of deer but the good luck was missing. It started to rain and it became very muddy as we walked through Isabella plantation and on to Wimbledon common and Canizaro house. The puddles became ponds.

But as we reached Wimbledon the sun came out. So did the 13th member who was secretly walking in the sunshine starting from the destination. Not such a secret though as we bumped into her by chance. Looking at our wet clothes and muddy shoes must have confirmed the wisdom of her decision.

But as we sat with a beer near Wimbledon station I was happy to meet such nice people and enjoy beautiful scenery. Leader
