5月のロンドン歩く会の写真レポート Sunday 1st of May 2016: Guildford Surrey Hills Walk

Bluebells

The members of the walk met at 10 am at Guildford station. We set off along the River Wey into the countyside, passing barges and rowers on the river. Next we headed into Chantry Woods where we saw a beautiful display of bluebells under the trees like a blue carpet. From there we followed the old Pilgrims Way footpath to Saint Martha's Hill church where we had very clear views of the surrounding country-side. After this we carried on to Newlands Corner (a local beauty spot), passing ancient Yew trees in the woods on the way to the Kiosk for lunch. The afternoon walk back to Guildford took in sweeping fields and woodlands on the way to Pewley Down (another beauty spot just outside Guildford). We finished up at Guildford Castle where a game of lawn bowls was taking place. After that we went to the Kings Head pub for a well earned drink. We were lucky with the weather which was beautiful all day.

5月1日、気持ちい五月晴の中、１３名がギルドフォード駅に集合しました。
ウエイ川沿いを歩き、チャントリーの森で満開のブルーベルを満喫。昔の巡礼の道からセントマーサ教会のある高台でくっきりと晴れた景色を堪能し、イチイの森を抜け、お昼はニューランドコーナーにて。バイカーたちのメッカです。ピクニックの後、さらなる高台、ピューリーダウンまで最後の上り。登った甲斐のある眺めでした。
