Report from Leader Dave
24 people met at Richmond station and introduced themselves with wonderful summer sunshine outside. A day spent in happy conversation and exchanged stories.
We walked along the Thames at Richmond, busy with joggers and cyclists to Petersham Nurseries. Into Richmond park where we saw St Paul's and Windsor Castle from King Henry's mound.
We got to Pembroke lodge and luckily there was plenty of space to enjoy lunch.
In the afternoon we set off for Isabella plantation where the azaleas were almost finished but other flowers were blooming. Then on to Wimbledon common and the 200 year old windmill. We could try grinding some wheat in the museum there and see the tiny apartment. The windmill was built at a bad time, as steam power was replacing windmills, and some of the windmill was converted into apartments soon after it was built. Mostly restored back to a windmill now as a museum.
We walked on to Canizaro park and house where some flowers were beautiful. Tired, we found the Wetherspoons pub to relax with drinks and more conversation.
It was a fun day, great to meet nice people and enjoy flowers, sunshine and relaxed conversation.
About 30,000 steps and 20km💪
Let's do it again in the autumn!
